Odyssey was born from the belief that one of the main challenges of the 21st century will be education. In an era marked by profound social, ecological and geopolitical transformations, education is not only essential personal capital, but above all it is “the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” (Nelson Mandela).

As the name suggests, Odyssey is first and foremost an adventure which our small group of founders embarked on out of passion:

• Passion for education, a deeply altruistic activity, combining the transmission of knowledge, benevolence, high standards, and innovation. Teaching demands true expertise, but above all it is a vocation, which requires a soulfulness and a high level of awareness that the education imparted to our students helps to shape their futures and thus the world of the future.
• A passion for France and the French language, which, throughout the world, embodies the spirit of the Enlightenment and values. In a globalised world, where English has become the main vector for communication, the French culture and the language are opportunities for our students to use it to excel within the international educational landscape.

A recognised partner of the AEFE and French institutions, Odyssey is nevertheless a private group, whose capacity for action depends on the contributions of families, and thus their satisfaction. Therefore, our commitment is addressed not only to our students, whose success and well-being are our priority, but also to their parents, who are our partners on a day-to-day basis. This commitment might therefore be summed up as follows: providing every one of our students with an excellent education, by welcoming them and their families into a caring educational community and an international environment.

After twenty years spent within the French diplomatic network in Asia and passionate about issues relating to the French education, which is at the heart of France’s influence abroad, I am very honoured and pleased to join the Odyssey group, in a great movement of innovation and significant strengthening of its presence in Asia-Pacific.

Chaired by Luc Chatel, former French Minister of Education, the international network of Odyssey schools is present in 14 countries and brings together more than 4,000 students.

Odyssey operates three schools in Asia called “La Petite École”, which were created in 2012 in Singapore and in 2017 in Bangkok (Thailand) and Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam). At the start of the school year in September 2022, these schools welcome over 500 students, from nursery to CM2 (Grade 5).

Odyssey schools offer multilingual education combining French, English and the national language of the host country. They bring together French and international teachers using active and personalized teaching.

Each school is accredited by the French Ministry of Education, a guarantee of quality education, and is therefore a partner of the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE), guaranteeing educational continuity with the French schools around the world.

Benevolence, innovation, child development, respect for diversity, the rhythm and the uniqueness of each student are also at the heart of each school of the Odyssey group.

Based in Singapore, Odyssey’s Asia-Pacific headquarters ensure the development of Odyssey’s schools in the region, which bring together accomplished teachers with extensive international experience and curious about educational innovations, and work in close relationship with the Paris headquarters on the extension of the school network.

Indeed, Odyssey has great ambitions for the Asia-Pacific region and is prepared to invest in the coming years for the greater benefit of students and their parents. Essential elements of our educational community, families are our day-to-day partners and are invited to participate even more in the development of the group by supporting its projects of innovation and openness to the world.
